How and how much does the sun shine on us? We tell you below based on orientation and you can decide which will be the most appropriate choice for your future home based on your lifestyle.
In our country, how many hours of sunshine does each orientation receive?
NORTH: the Sun shines in summer, in the early hours of the morning and in the late hours of the afternoon. The rest of the year we will not have direct sun but we will still have a reasonably lit house, especially if we have the reflection of another building or a very open space. Useful if where you live it is very hot during most of the year.
NORTH-EAST: in winter the Sun does not shine. The rest of the year it will only do so until around midday.
EST: Receive sunlight almost all year round, from dawn to noon. With this orientation you will start every morning in a sunny house. It is recommended for homes in hot areas.
SOUTH-EAST: in winter the sun will shine from before midday and for a good part of the afternoon. The rest of the year the time slot is reduced. For us it is ideal since it heats the house in winter and in summer, when it is hotter, it is more bearable.
SOUTH: the sun shines in winter, spring and autumn. In summer only during the central hours of the day, when it is hottest. Recommended if you live in cold areas most of the year.
SOUTH-WEST: in winter it lights us up for most of the day. The rest of the year, from midday until sunset.
WEST: almost all year round from midday to sunset. Orientation recommended for "cool" climates, given that in summer the sun will shine until the last moment.
NORTHWEST: in winter we will have some sun towards the end of the afternoon. In other seasons, from afternoon until sunset.
If your home has different exposures, you will be able to calculate the amount of sun it receives during the day. What is your specific case?
If you don't go to work early in the morning, then an eastern orientation will allow you to have the house full of sun at the beginning of the day, and you will be able to enjoy it to the full.
If, for example, you finish work at 3pm, a West orientation will allow you to enjoy a bit of sun at home even in winter.
There can be many more criteria for choosing, so carefully evaluate your lifestyle and habits before choosing one orientation over another.
Enjoy the Sun to the fullest... it's free!
